GameRoks Review: New Super Mario Wii.
Nintendo has been on my hit list as of late. Stagnant and unimpressive, the Wii has been closer to being used as a wobbly table balancing tool than my primary gaming device. Then, suddenly and unexpected, almost like getting a call from that cute girl you blew the three day rule with, comes New Super Mario Bros. That familiar dose of fun you grew up with revamped into your wettest dream.

From the very outset you’ll notice everything about the game has been given extra polish and care. I couldn’t believe the Wii was pumping out these retina pleasing visuals. Mario takes new life and whatever he is drinking I want. It’s the ultimate combination of everything you ever loved about every Super Mario game ever created. From Yoshi to power-ups, not one tested and liked formula was left out in creating a current-gen, ear to ear grin, I just peed in my pants because I did not want to put the controller down, experience. Undoubtedly one of the year’s finest and most enjoyable games, your home should be haunted and cursed if you don’t have this in your library.

The charm of the game is not in its beautifully colored worlds, or its masterfully scored sound track, which by the way is the best sounding of any game on the platform. What will melt your couch-potato heart is the simplistically perfect control mechanics. With timed jumps and almost life like physics, you’ll be right back to the masochistic frustration that had you smashing controllers and tables all the way to Bowser’s castle. Oh, but there’s more, a lot more. Four player cooperative and competitive modes put your darkest desire to smash Mario’s head in to life. The experience of simultaneous game play on your television is almost sensory overload; my tongue would need to be connected to a car battery after each session just to recoup. If you needed any reason to see that blue light on once again, why not make it one that will make you reminisce of the essence of fun and why you started to play video games in the first place. We all need a break from long violent missions we are usually relieved to be over. Why not play New Super Mario Bros. for Wii and own something that will keep you laughing until people think something’s wrong with you. No wonder the world is addicted to this plumber’s crack.
